How do you change a EGR valve?

i have a 96 ford ranger and i need to change that valve, are there risk of me doing this change or should i just let a mechanic do it?How do you change a EGR valve?
It's pretty simple. But you need to verify it's your problem before swapping it out. Just because you see codes doesn't mean that's your problem. What are the symptoms? Why do you think it needs to be changed? How do you change a EGR valve?
Ive taken mine off from my 94 mustang.....and it was a PAIN in the ***.

Because theres a long metal tube connected to the EGR valve, then the EGR bolts to your Upper Intake Manifold.

The problem I had was that the EGR came off, but when i went to pull it out of the way, it just WOULDNT stay, i guess it had been on for so many years, it just didnt wanna move!

I had to fight with it forever and it had so much tension in it!

Usually EGR's get all rusted and are a pain......

I would just hack it off completely.......its only for emissions anyways.

The one on my mustang DIDNT even work, and i still passed emissions.

BUT, assuming your truck isnt a piece of rusted crap like my car.

Its very easy.......just take off the 2 bolts that hold the EGR onto the intake manifold.

Then you just disconnect the one Main thread bolt that holds the EGR onto the tube pipe.

(it may be easier or harder depending on which vehicle it is....mine was a pain, cause it was WAY in the back of the engine, yours might be in the front, which would be WAY easier.)How do you change a EGR valve?
i change the 1 on my car. all i did was unhook the battery, unhook the harness that goes to it, took out 2 or 3 bolts and up it came. i cleaned off the surface and installed a new gasket and put the valve on.How do you change a EGR valve?
I just did one last weekend, it was easy. Use a Haynes manual if you want help, it will tell you what to do step by step.
