How long should it take a garage to change an EGR valve?

A garage replaced the EGR valve in our explorer. How long should have it taken them to figure it out? Is this done on a computer? How long should it take them to replace it? Also how much should the part cost? How long should it take a garage to change an EGR valve?
You must have had a check engine light on so an hours diagnostic 100.00 then the egr valve with markup 150.00 and the labor another hour 100.00 so figure around 350-400 dollarsHow long should it take a garage to change an EGR valve?
The EGR valve code can be read by scanning your van's output for codes. It takes 5 minutes to read the code.

Check to see if it has malfunctioned, and replace if nessicary.

EGR valves tend to run everywhere from $100 - $200 on fords, with most in the $150 range. The gasket should only be about $2.00 .

I am not sure about your Van, but I know on the F-150's I can have it changed out in a hour. Most shops charge $30-$60 per hour for labor.

If the sensor is gone bad, then that only takes 10-15 minutes, and the sensor can be had easily for $50.

Hope I helped,

John
